HISTORY

The Levesque's farm was started in 1993 by Paul and Suzanne Levesque at their home in Leeds, Maine. The couple started out with only a few small fields and selling at local farmers' markets. As time went on, the Levesque's began opening more field space. This allowed them to begin growing a wider variety and more consistent supply of crops.

After four years of selling at farmers’ markets and to small vendors, the Levesque's chose to go into the retail business for themselves. In the spring of 1997, Paul built a roadside farm stand with the help of the family. That summer they embarked on their first year in the retail business. It was also in 1997 that the Levesque's became certified through Maine Organic Farmers and Gardeners Association, MOFGA, leading to the founding of Levesque's Organic Farm. In 2021 Levesque's Organic Farm also became certified by the Real Organic Project.

FAMILY

Paul and Sue Levesque, along with their two sons, Joshua and Peter, have been working together for the last 20 years to make the family farm a success. Paul was raised on Levesque's Dairy Farm in Lewiston where he learned his love for farming and working in nature. Sue didn't get her start in agriculture until she married Paul and they bought the property in Leeds that became the farm. Peter and Joshua were both raised on the farm, and in the farming life style. They have helped since they were extremely young, and now as adults, contribute to the ongoing success of the Farm, along with their wives Rebecca and Julia. Paul and Sue also have two daughters, Jessica and Paula and 11 grandchildren.
